English: Reconditioning Can Extend Tool Value
Carbide end mill regrinding and recoating can reduce tooling cost when the original tool body is still in good condition. Regrinding restores cutting geometry, while recoating adds wear resistance for the next production cycle. This approach is most useful for high-quality carbide tools, special tools and larger diameters where replacement cost is significant.
Not every worn tool should be reconditioned. Severe chipping, deep cracks, heat damage or excessive diameter loss can make regrinding impractical. After reconditioning, the shop must update tool diameter, length offset and cutting parameters because the tool geometry may no longer match the original value.

Tool reconditioning works best when inspection, grinding quality and coating selection are controlled. A poorly reground edge can create vibration, poor surface finish and unpredictable tool life.
